Originally from Kazakhstan, Alexandre Bessonov is a French composer, arranger, orchestrator and music educator who studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).
Having received several awards in musical composition techniques and orchestration at the Paris Conservatoire, he went on to further his studies in film scoring under Marie-Jeanne Séréro. His background combines a strong command of musical writing with a particular interest in the relationship between music, visual imagery and storytelling.
As a composer, he explores a wide range of musical styles and approaches, from instrumental and orchestral writing to electronic soundscapes. He pays particular attention to instrumental colour, rhythmic structures and the expressive potential of music.
He has collaborated with several prestigious French arts institutions, including the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Gobelins Paris and the Atelier de Sèvres. His work encompasses music for film, live film screenings with musical accompaniment, and audiovisual performances.
In 2022, his composition Mi-C-H-E-L was performed by the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Bastien Stil, during a concert paying tribute to Michel Legrand.
His work also includes music for live film performances featuring Sidewalk Stories by Charles Lane, Simone Signoret, figure libre by Michèle Dominici, and Maestro Do-Mi-Sol-Do by Georges Méliès, as well as original compositions for video mapping shows, notably in Orléans and Épinal.
In the field of film music, he composed the original score for Altaïr, a short film directed by Loris Belmont, which won the First Prize at SiRAR 2021 and premiered in Marseille in 2022. He also composed the complete original soundtrack for Nothing New Under the Sun, directed by Ari Drabinowski and Romann Magnin, which was selected for several international film festivals.
In 2025, his string quartet Tavolozza, recognised in the Entraide Française competition in New York, was performed at the French Embassy in New York.
Alongside his creative work, Alexandre Bessonov is actively involved in music education. He holds the French Certificat d'aptitude (CA), a professional teaching qualification in music theory and solfeggio. He has taught at the Maîtrise de Radio France and the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. Since 2026, he has continued his teaching career at the Geneva Conservatory of Music.
